Join me on November 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Times Square (exact address will be posted closer to the event) for a 3 hour LIVE presentation on Bankruptcy, Commercial Real Estate and Environmental Law. Outline: Part one: introduction (10 mins) Part two: bankruptcy basics (60 mins) Part three: hands on (review petition, docketsheet) (20 mins) Part four: proof of claim exercise (break out?) (30 mins) Part five: applying bankruptcy basics to fact pattern dealing with Commercial Real Estate that is effected by Environmental issues and bankruptcy claims/obligations & questions (60 mins) Description: Have you ever listened to a restructuring colleague explain an issue and wonder if she was speaking a foreign language? Well, you are not alone. This course will introduce attendees to “Bankruplish”: the slang relied on by all of your bankruptcy colleagues that uses nonthreatening numbers to describe (often) hostile outcomes. Through a fact pattern discussing a commercial real estate property with environmental issues, attendees will be guided through some of the more common issues related to commercial real estate and environmental law that may arise in a chapter 7, chapter 13 or chapter 11 case. We will also also review a petition and complete a proof of claim. By the end of this course, you will achieve a beginning level of fluency in key sections of the United States Bankruptcy Code, the United States Bankruptcy Rules. You will also be introduced to local “dialects” (including, the District of Delaware, the District of New Jersey, and the Southern District of New York).
