These are stressful and frightening times for all of us. I am receiving many calls about Chapter 13 cases during the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, I am providing this update should you have a Chapter 13 case in progress or pending.

The Court and Chapter 13 Trustees are finding ways to keep everyone’s Chapter 13 cases afloat through this crisis. However, the situation remains very fluid at this time. Those who have hearings or meetings upcoming in their case, please know that there are alternative accommodations available. Many matters are being resolved and many others are being adjourned. Those that must go forward, will be done by phone or video conference. You don’t have to appear in person at office or at the courthouse during the quarantine.

For now, you should do your best to continue to make payments on time. If you cannot, do not be alarmed. Communicate regularly with your lawyer to avoid the dismissal of your case. When the crisis is over, you should be able to get you your case back on track. Again, the Court and the case Trustees are very aware and sensitive to the specific and special complications caused by this crisis.

Please check back for updates. We will post information as it becomes available.

Stay safe. If at all possible, stay home. And in the words of my personal favorite Saint, Padre Pio: Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry. Worry does not fix anything. We will get through this – together!!!
